ActiveNet Architecture
ActiveNet is built on a modular, multi-tiered, distributed architecture designed to support a wide range of application configurations from single system to multi-client, multi-server distributed environments. This design provides maximum scalability and performance while providing integration and customization flexibility. The proprietary technology that gives ActiveNet its unique abilities is wrapped in standards-compliant Java business objects. All components are readily accessible through clearly defined, published APIs, available within the ActiveNet Developer Tools.
In the default configuration, ActiveNet is accessed through a standard web browser, enabling users to access the system from any computer without the need for IT to install or configure software. However, access to ActiveNet can be integrated into existing applications or enterprise portals through a simple API.
ActiveNet leverages existing enterprise systems to create individual employee profiles, reflecting each person's experience, activity, and business relationships. ActiveNet has out-of-the-box connectivity support for corporate e-mail systems such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange, departmental file servers, internal web servers, content management systems such as Documentum, and collaboration systems such as Lotus Notes, Documentum e-Room, and Groove. ActiveNet also integrates with existing enterprise directory services to increase data accuracy and manageability, and enterprise authentication services to provide single sign-on (SSO) capabilities.
